Renovations of cultural buildings will take place in Kelmė Published: 2010.06.23
Pagryžuvis village, which in the 19th century was famous for a manor in the Romantic style as well as rich library, today is only a faint shadow of the settlement that existed in the past centuries. Every year, the queue of buildings of public purpose, which anticipate renovation works, does not grow down because of the shortage of funds.
Pagryžuvis branch of Tytuvėnai Cultural Centre that is situated in Kelmė region is the building that causes almost the greatest headache to the employees of the Municipality and the Eldership of Tytuvėnai Neighbourhood.
In order to retain the biggest building of cultural purpose in Kelmė region - the so-called Pagryžuvis Cultural House - in 2006, the repair works, which required long-term investments, were launched. The activity of the Elder of Tytuvėnai Neighbourhoods as well as the funding of Kelmė District Municipality and the company "Saerimner" operating in Kelmė district has become three most important props, thanks to which new technical equipment was purchased and fixing of the roof of the Cultural House, which had been almost in the emergency state, was launched, windows were changed and the walls of the building were insulated against frost.
Kelmė District Municipality decided to evenly distribute LTL 20 000 allocated by the long-lived sponsor "Saerimner" not only for the renovation of Pagryžuvis Cultural House but also for the change of windows of this settlement‘s primary school, which is going to be implemented in the near future. The educational institution, which has over 50 pupils, having received the funding from the "Saerimner" several years ago, repaired the pupils‘ eating premises, purchased proper furniture, however it managed to change only half of all school‘s windows.
Kelmė District Municipality, having received financial support from the company "Saerimner", is planning to also fix the premises of the library located in the Pagryžuvis branch of Tytuvėnai Cultural Centre and operating more than 20 years. The walls of the library will be insulated against frost from the inside, later plastered and painted, it is planned to carry out electrical installation works in the premises, to install new illumination systems. According to Algis Krutkevičius, the Head of the Department of Culture and Sports of Kelmė District Municipality Administration, Pagryžuvys is "a young settlement", there are plenty of young people, who consider events, which take place in Pagryžuvis Cultural House, as well as the possibility to realize oneself in art lovers‘ collectives especially relevant and necessary, therefore it is simply mandatory to preserve the Pagryžuvis branch of Tytuvėnai Cultural Centre.
